Category:

Fiction Book (Series)

Now distributed by Erben House!

Set in small town Wisconsin circa 1979-1988, walk back with Gloria to your younger years or that of your ancestors. Her life glowed with vitality and potential – until. She had been self-confident and goal oriented - until. She is expecting twins when tragedy strikes. How can she cope? Can the pieces be put together again? If they are, will it just lead to another tragedy? Where can she find sunshine beyond the shadows?

Death, sickness, depression, failure, grief, self-pity, guilt – have you tasted their bitter pills? Gloria does and so is an inspiring reminder to look up. Into the dark miasma of this life’s valley of tears, the Light from above is shining. By faith we too must continually struggle against self-centeredness and self-pity. We do not walk in shadows but in the light of Christ’s empty tomb. So, look up to Him for hope and faith to walk with God even in the valley of the shadow of death.

Sunshine in Shadows is book 3 in the Steeple in the Distance series. However, it stands on its own, as the narrative is not directly connected to the previous books. Gloria is the granddaughter of Nan, the main character in the two previous books.

About

Deborah K. Ude

Deborah Ude wrote poetry and short stories throughout high school and college. The Lord used her creative talents in teaching and raising nine children with her husband, Professor John Ude. When the last of the children entered the final stages of leaving home, Deborah realized time was available to develop her writing skills. Writing, visits from nine children and grandchildren, campus activities, and occasional substitute teaching adequately filled the empty nest. The lack of novels based on her German Lutheran heritage suggested a niche that she could attempt to fill.

Deborah went to be with Jesus June 29, 2017.
